Day 1: Arrival in Colombo & Transfer to Sigiriya

Welcome at Bandaranaike International Airport. Meet your guide and enjoy a scenic drive to Sigiriya (approx. 4 hours). En route, stop at the Dambulla Cave Temple — a UNESCO World Heritage Site with magnificent Buddhist murals and over 150 Buddha statues. Check in to your hotel near Sigiriya and enjoy a welcome dinner featuring traditional Sri Lankan cuisine.

2

Day 2: Sigiriya Rock Fortress & Polonnaruwa

Early morning climb of the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, the 5th-century palace built atop a 200-meter rock column. Marvel at the famous Sigiriya Frescoes and the Mirror Wall. After lunch, explore the ancient city of Polonnaruwa — another UNESCO site featuring well-preserved ruins, the stunning Gal Vihara rock-carved Buddha statues, and the Royal Palace complex.

3

Day 3: Kandy – Temple of the Tooth & Cultural Show

Drive to the hill capital of Kandy through scenic countryside. Visit the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya, home to over 4,000 plant species. Explore the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) — Sri Lanka's most important Buddhist shrine. In the evening, enjoy a spectacular Kandyan dance performance showcasing traditional fire-walking and acrobatic dance.

4

Day 4: Scenic Train to Nuwara Eliya & Tea Country

Board the famous blue train for the scenic journey from Kandy to Nuwara Eliya — rated one of the most beautiful train rides in the world. Pass through misty mountains, emerald tea plantations, and dramatic waterfalls. Visit a working tea factory to learn about Ceylon tea production, with a tasting session. Explore the charming colonial town of Nuwara Eliya, known as "Little England."

5

Day 5: Galle Fort & Departure

Morning drive to the coastal city of Galle (approx. 4 hours). Walk through the historic Galle Fort — a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and fortified by the Dutch. Frequently Asked Questions

Sri Lanka can be visited year-round. The west and south coasts are best from December to March, while the east coast is ideal from April to September. The Cultural Triangle (Sigiriya, Kandy) is pleasant throughout the year.
Most nationalities need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) which can be obtained online at www.eta.gov.lk. The process is simple and typically approved within 24 hours. The ETA allows a 30-day stay and costs approximately USD 50.
The climb takes about 1.5-2 hours at a comfortable pace with multiple rest stops. There are approximately 1,200 steps. It's manageable for most fitness levels, but we recommend wearing comfortable shoes and starting early to avoid the midday heat. Those with severe vertigo may find some sections challenging.
Light, breathable cotton clothing, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen (SPF 50+), insect repellent, a hat, swimwear, a light rain jacket, and modest clothing for temple visits (covering shoulders and knees). We also recommend bringing a reusable water bottle.
